The DM5s are about the size of a loaf of bread standing on end, but the sound they produce is quite unbelievable. Stereo image is far better than most will ever have heard and clarity is comparable with better quality headphones.
Careful ventilation of the chassis and magnet structure of the bass drivers ensure absence of obtrusive resonances that can profoundly affect the quality of sound. The bass drivers are much better than even the N5 driver which was cutting edge at the time.
Built-in AVI Intelligent Monitoring System examines the music and momentarily reduces gain to combat peaks that might cause clipping. The system also switches off the speakers if they aren't used for thirty minutes and on again when they are. Thus the owner never needs to turn them off since on standby they each consume less than ½ Watt.
Our most successful speakers ever were the Neutrons, however it is also true that ADM9s have now sold nearly as many pairs and at far greater value in less time, but for nine years nearly most of the magazines gave the Neutrons a succession of awards and many thousands of pairs sold.

The DM10s are introduced to replace the now discontinued ADM9RS. These have been comprehensively discussed in the Facebook Groups and on the AVI Forum for those who would like to know more.
DM10s have the same appearance and facilities as ADM9RS, but use new, and more expensive, specially designed drive units and redesigned electronics with 8th order crossover filter. These give a quite a dramatic improvement in smoothness and clarity as well as greater precision to the stereo image.
AVI started a revolution eight years ago, it has been a tremendous success for us. Our first efforts benefited primarily from being active and having less intrusive crossovers and better driver control. Now Sinar Baja who design and build our drive units have designed much better ones regardless of cost and to take advantage of the superior performance possible from active speakers.
The tweeters have a superbly damped silk diaphragm, extra-long linear travel and no less than two copper shorting rings to remove eddy currents. The result is the smoothest sweetest top anyone could ever wish for.
The bass driver is completely new and the latest technology. Sinar Baja have manufactured the paper cone themselves to ensure more effective damping of break up modes and a smoother more detailed mid. They've also fitted a stronger, but well damped dust cap to reduce voice coil former distortion and the enharmonic tones it produces. Most significant, is the addition of a copper cap to the pole piece. This reduces eddy currents generated in the steel work of the magnet. They fight with the signal from the amplifier for control of the cone and produce non-harmonic and time related distortions.
None of the above would be possible were it not tremendous headroom from our powerful amplifiers, far more than most have in their legacy system and because we use 8th order active crossovers. Believe it or not going active gives 2-300 times better driver control and an active crossover can have at least one hundredth of the distortion of a passive one.
Passive speakers simply cannot prevent the tweeter producing out of time sound because of the inability to reduce the output quickly enough. Active speakers solve this with a steeper crossover that also prevents boomy bass sounds.
The DM10s come with two 3 metre mains lead, one 5 metre interconnecting cable and the handset, so all you need is a suitable Optical Cable and two triple A (AAA) batteries and you'll have a system that plays quieter with more clarity than the old stuff and much louder too without congesting or distorting.
There is simply no need for all the racks and boxes any longer, just a pair of effortless high quality speakers.
Power amplifiers: High speed, linear, analogue bipolar, 75 WPC for the tweeters and 250 WPC for the bass drivers. System distortion is typically better than 0.002%.

Preamplifier: High quality state of the art analogue preamplifier with two digital and one analogue input. Control is remote and volume settings are remembered for each separate input.
Volume control resolution: 1/2 dB steps 100dB range.
DAC: Wolfson WM8741 24/192 with SRC to 24/96 Stereo with optical S/PDIF.
Bass driver: Very high power handling, unique purpose designed long excursion 6.5" paper cone drive unit with 1.5" voice coil, copper shorting ring and exceptionally broad bandwidth to enable a phase perfect crossover at 2.00kHz. Bass extension is better than - 6dB @ 50 Hz.

Low Frequency Response: 6dB at 50Hz
In active speakers the power amps are connected directly to their drive units, so are a great deal better controlled. By comparison, passive designs are poorly controlled and boom (often confused with bass by less experienced listeners especially when using low powered amplifiers) which makes using a sub difficult. However this is not the case with ADM9RSs whose specially designed subwoofer seamlessly integrates with them.
Bass varies from room to room and with different types of music, however, movies and some TV programs often include some low frequency content for special effects which means there is an advantage in using the AVI 10" Sub with the ADMRSs when watching TV, for surround sound the AVI 10" Sub is essential.
The AVI 10" Sub is an ultra-high powered model specifically designed for the ADMRSs alone. The 10" driver has a 3" diameter voice coil and a maximum excursion of 2". It's in a sealed box and driven by a linear, analogue bipolar amplifier that can produce up to 30 Amps and 200 Watts. The filter can be set to 20, 30, 40, 60, 80 or 100 Hz and gain adjusted to suit room acoustics. In practice it extends low frequency excursion to below 30Hz, increases the dynamic and plants the ADM9RS firmly in big speaker territory.
It is important to understand that ADM9RSs and the AVI 10" Subwoofers have been designed as a system and best results will be achieved if they are used together. The ADM9RSs plus AVI 10" Sub are, in effect, a three way floor standing system with the option of infinitely adjustable bass.
